The Oscars
I’m not planning on doing much posting on the Oscars. Since I’ve seen only two of the movies released in the last year and a half, neither of which are nominated for Oscars, there’s not a whole lot to say.
I might have to chime in if Chris Rock goes off and starts swearing and slandering people. The hopes that it might happen is the sole reason I’m even going to watch.

Crap.
A few minutes into the red carpet viewing (actually, the wife is watching while I’m blogging), and already we’ve got politics.
They asked Leo DiCaprio about arriving in a hybrid car. I’ve already stated that I do think hybrids are a good middle ground before we progress to a better final solution, and I give him credit for actually putting his money where his mouth is and buying one.
But he proceeded to go off on how he hopes that we can have “better environmental policies”, etc etc.
It was an easy way for the red carpet folks to offer a softball to inject politics into the Oscars. There is a place and time to debate environmental policy, and something tells me the red carpet isn’t it.
