And so it begins…
On the way to work this morning, regular (87 octane) gas prices I saw:
Low price: $2.43
High price: $2.69
On the way home from work?
Low price: $2.69
High price: $3.49
And lines at every station.

Same thing in Texas where gas is relatively cheap compared to the rest of the country. I can’t imagine what they are going to increase to in New England, CA or the worst Hawaii.
Don’t worry. Hawaii won’t have price increases, due to the price caps. They just won’t have any gas.
I think part of the issue here isn’t so much the price increase (I do admit that is a problem) but the more immediate issue is the gas line hysteria. People are running out to top off their tanks before the prices get higher… which is probably going to cause an actual shortage. I remember (vaguely) back in the 70’s the gas crises. People were encouraged to not go the “top off” route, and then the even and odd day fill ups took place. It’s scary how the media is feeding the hysteria gas frenzy. Relax, chill… because eventually, everyone is going to have to choke down those higher prices. Topping off just delays it for a few days.
FYI, a bunch of gas stations are out of gas in Atlanta today, or at the very least, out of regular and mid-grade (some still have premium). You know what that tells me? They didn’t raise their prices enough!
