FairTax Friday #2

The second week of the FairTax Friday carnival is up over at Buzz Brockway’s blog.

Interesting week for FairTax blogging, as the Mises blog took aim at the FairTax. From what I saw of their critique, they never ask whether or not the FairTax is good or bad. They seem to rest on the idea that because all taxation is theft, improving our tax system is a Bad Thing™. Very Rothbardian of them, but I certainly fixing the system we have is a HECK of a lot more likely than convincing the government to scrap the idea of taxation in general.

Check out the carnival when you get a chance.

  2. Brad,

Stumbled across your site following a comment you made at Eric Grumbles article on originalism vs. living document. I’m of the same school of thought there. However, that isn’t why I comment here.

Please see an excellent site that I am sure you will appreciate:

    http://www.originalintent.org

Click on “Education” and check out the articles listed in the left hand column, particularly those concerning taxation. They are:
    Constitutional Taxation
    Federal Income Tax
    Employment Tax
    State Sales Tax

The site owner is Dave Champion. He also does a weekly radio show called The American Radio Show.

    http://www.americanradioshow.us

Brief descriptions of and links to the MP3s of all of the shows since it began are available in the “Archives” section.

Dave Champion is a prominent and well respected member of the growing Tax Honesty movement in this country. He has studied the taxing statutes and regulations intensively. Rather than as a tax attorney or CPA, he approached study of tax law from a Constitutional perspective. Consequently, he (and many others now) have discovered that the real problem with taxation is not with the law, as the law is constitutional as it is written. Rather, the problem is with fraudulent misapplication of the written law which amounts to government theft of property on a massive scale. Dave is also an opponent of the “Fair Tax”.

People in the Tax Honesty movement are not tax protesters. They are people who want our tax laws administered honestly and lawfully. However, the truth is that most Americans living, working, and deriving their income from WITHIN the united States, do not make “taxable income” as defined by law. Most Americans have been deceived by their own government into paying an income tax they never owed in the first place.

I believe that you will find Dave Champion’s work invaluable. I am making you aware of this because I believe that you will immediately see from Dave’s writings his love, respect, and admiration for the Constitution and the original intent of the framers for it to protect our Individual liberty.

Please listen to the radio show for 12/17/2005 as it dealt with income taxes, particularly withholding and FICA. The link should be up in a few days. I guarantee it will be a real eye-opener for you. Also, see the March 27, 2004:
    ——
    THE BIG INCOME TAX SHOW!
Dave Champion discusses the moral imperative behind proper tax administration.
Which “tax” are we talking about?
16th Amendment: What did it really do?
Federal courts say that the Tax Code “relates to taxpayers, and not to nontaxpayers”.
Dave breaks down Subtitle ‘A’ (entitled “Income Tax”) of the Internal Revenue Code so you can understand it.
Who is “made liable” for Subtitle ‘A’ tax?
What do the regulations say about who is required to the use of Taxpayer Identification Numbers?
Form W-9: What force and effect, if any; and for whom?
Dave points out how certain parts of the Code have to be “reverse engineered” to understand what is truly intended.
What is the proper role of Information Reporting, and upon whom?
    These questions answered, and more!

I hope that you soon come to realize that you really don’t want to see another tax fraud foisted upon Americans in the guise of a “fair tax”.
