Am I This Old?
I just found out yesterday that emo isn’t a band, it’s a genre of music. I guess that’s why I’ve never heard the band “emo” on the radio?

Sadly, I am a fan of old “emo”-rock. I prefer to call it rock or indie rock. But yeah…
Sunny Day Real Estate
The Get Up Kids
Rites of Spring
Mock Orange
Those are some good ones…
Ironically, not knowing what emo is, is very emo.
Brad,
Don’t feel too bad, I’ve never even heard of emo to begin with. Which just makes me older
Funny you should say that, Gabriel. My buddy, who was visiting for the weekend, tried to explain…
“Well, I can’t really *define* emo for you, the best I can do is give you some bands that are examples of it.”
Bear in mind, he’s a pretty bright, eloquent person, so if he can’t define emo for me, it really makes me question its legitimacy…
“Emo” is a bastard child of hardcore and punk rock. It generally has odd, off-beat time signatures. Weird chord structures and very over dramatic, whiny melodies.
